Scribd – File Sharing For Book Freaks

James K.A. Smith recently posted about how he found a full copy of Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations on Scribd.  A closer inspection shows that if you’re into philosophy then Scribd is a great place to hang out, it seems that the philosophers have managed to get beyond the ethics of copyright (I mean, to a philosopher what is ethics anyway?) and if you were to go looking you’ll find a full copy of Zizek’s On Belief, John Caputo’s How To Read Kierkegaard, Zizek’s Monstrosity of Christ, John Caputo’s On Religion (which was one of my favourite reads of the last 5 years)… The list does go on and on, and, to be fair to the philosophers who I just labelled before it does seem that the books have been put online by one or two primary culprits, it’s just what these one or two people have put online is oh so prolific.

And, if that doesn’t take your fancy then there’s also N.T. Wright’s book “Paul in Fresh Expressions” on scribd as well (although the word “Paul” seems to be thought of as a swear word and thus is crossed out every time its used in the book… )
