One of the newer “web 2ish” websites that have found themselves on my regular web tour is Dear God. Dear God is very similar to websites like “Post-Secret” (which is one of those rare phenomenon’s that caught people’s imagination) however it invites people to send in their innermost hopes and fears in a prayer.
The theory behind Dear God is that people who pray are healthier, no matter what their faith is. People are invited to share their prayers, their hopes, dreams, failures and to provide an image that goes with their prayer, but of course, if they don’t provide an image one will be added by the guys behind the site.
There is no denomination behind this space, no church or other spiritual organisation is behind the space (which is a hard statement to make, surely there is some of the spiritual in what they do).
Anyhow, go check it out, it looks like a well designed, well thought through project…

Check out the article “Dear God, your inbox is bursting” in this week’s Sydney Morning Herald
Ever wondered what it would be like to peek inside God’s inbox? Well, now you can.
About a week ago, Bill Tikos, the Sydney-based founder of trend-spotting site thecoolhunter.net, launched dear-god.net – a website where people across the globe can post their prayers to “Jesus, Allah, Buddha, or simply a spiritual universal energy”.
The prayers that land in God’s inbox range from issues of depression, grief and abortion to politics, homosexuality and faith.
Then there are the humorous ones, including this entry: “Dear God, could you send me a new boyfriend, please? The last one was rubbish, frankly, and could have benefited from a rethink of his sideburns … Please have him washed and brought to my tent.”
In its first week more than 63,000 people visited the site and hundreds commented on people’s prayers.
Dear-god.net is the latest in a string of websites (including godtube.com) and technologies – such as podcasts of sermons you can download to your iPod and daily verses sent by SMS — enabling young people to connect with God in the same way they might communicate with their mates.
